The seminar is part of the project Religion and Violence: religions and faith as builders of peace and as a way out of radicalism, coordinated from Debora Tonelli. This appointment is organized from the Forum fiorentino, in collaboration with the Department of Polical and Social Sciences of University of Florence,  FBK-ISR, CSPS of Tor Vergata University and Reset Dialogue on Civilizations.

It will discuss how religion has been politicized in order to motivate violence in the case of former Yugoslavian Republics.

In the spectrum of interventions related to assisted reproduction, when a couple cannot perform directly a pregnancy to conceive and receive a baby some new scenarios – as surrogacy – are possible and discussed. In Italy this kind of practice is legally forbidden, but in other countries all around the world it is allowed that a woman performs a pregnancy for a couple or for a single person, receiving a payment or as a solidaristic act, that doesn’t imply any kind of payment.

At the invitation of the Trentino School of Management (TSM/LaRes), ISR researcher Boris Rähme holds a course on current developments in online information environments, as part of ISR’s educational and teaching activities. Returning to the Trentino territory results from previous research and current work in the ISR research line “Values, Science, and Technology”, the course introduces key concepts and tools for dealing with, assessing and making good use of online information in the fields of politics, religion and social innovation.

Salvation and virtue of the pagans can be defined as a modern paradigm in the history of theology of the Church and Western culture. Christian missionaries encountered everywhere “pagans” to which the new gospel would be announced. Jesuits, especially in China, India or Peru, elaborated instruments and theories to make possible the evangelization on the basis of a “virtue of the Gentiles”. They applied in a constant effort to find within them the seeds or traces of a divine revelation, as they had found among the pagans of antiquity.

Da più di 15 anni il Centro studi Martino Martini si occupa delle relazioni tra Europa e Cina. Il Centro prende il nome dal missionario gesuita trentino Martino Martini (1614- 1661) che operò in Cina nel XVII secolo.

In the context of the refugees’ crisis, the workshop focuses on the combination of religious and family networks within the Eritrean diaspora. Responding to the interest of the FBK’s Centre for Religious Studies for the interaction of religion and innovation, the workshop analyses the innovations caused by migration within the religious sphere and, at the same time, innovations that religion can bring to migration within the wider transnational social field of the Eritrean diaspora, and in the various contexts of settlement.
