In his seminal book Parapsychology, Philosophy, and Spirituality David Ray Griffin presents us with a series of arguments for the academic and scientific evaluation of the paranormal phenomena. In this unique book, Griffin lays the foundation for any future elaboration of the psi phenomena based on psychological, philosophical, and religious interests. Based on a statement by Alfred North Whitehead that it is “fatal to dismiss antagonistic doctrines, supported by any body of evidence, as simply wrong,” Griffin argues, that, in an era of the evolutionary science, relativity theory, and quantum physics, it is vital and actually necessary to extend our interests in philosophy and religious science towards the field of parapsychology, including telepathy. This lecture will be a contribution to the re-enchantment process within religious studies and will closely evaluate the mystery and potential of telepathy for contemporary quantum theology. For this purpose, it will navigate through some of the major Western thinkers, such as Bruno (vinculum), Schopenhauer (animal magnetism), Jung (synchronicity) and Keller (quantum entanglement) – and propose a possibility of a telepathic synchronicity and entanglement within the newly re-enchanted theology.
