Susanna Trotta holds a MSc in Global Migration (distinction) from University College London, a BA in Intercultural Communication (110/110 cum laude) from the University of Genova and a Diploma in Piano from “N. Paganini” Conservatory in Genova.

She is a visiting researcher and PhD candidate at the Research Centre on Religious Communities and Sustainable Development at Humboldt-Universtität zu Berlin and a research adviser at the Joint Learning Initiative on Faith and Local Communities. She has also previously worked in asylum seekers reception facilities in Genova and Berlin and as an activist for Refugees Welcome Italia Onlus.

At the Centre for Religious Studies of the Bruno Kessler Foundation, her work focuses on the relationship between religion and innovation, and on the Digital competencies, Inclusion and Growth for Future generations (DIG4Future) project, coordinated by Valeria Fabretti, in collaboration with Save the Children Italia Onlus and other European partners.

She has contributed to publications on the roles of faith actors in various aspects of sustainable development and in responding to forced migration, including Palgrave Macmillan’s Handbook of Displacement, the International Partnership for Religion and Development (PaRD)’s scoping studies on “Faith Actor Partnerships in Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health” and on “Partnering with Local Faith Actors to Support Peaceful and Inclusive Societies”, UNICEF Europe and Central Asia’s initiative “From Faith to Action”, and the Berkley Forum at the Berkley Centre for Religion, Peace and World Affairs of Georgetown University.
