ALLA PROVA DEL TEMPO: RELIGIONI E CIVILTÀ – THE ZORDAN LECTURES RETURN TO BOOKSTORES
November 8, 2024 saw the release of the first volume of “Tridents,” a new book series from FBK’s Center for Religious Studies published by EDB.
“Alla prova del tempo. Religioni e civiltà” (Time-tested: Religions and Civilizations) collects three essays, respectively by M.S. Copeland, I.U. Dalferth, R.A. Orsi, edited, translated and afterworded by Paolo Costa, Senior Researcher at ISR.
The texts were originally delivered as the Zordan Lectures, the annual event established in 2016 to honor the memory of Davide Zordan. They all revolve around the topic of the civilizational challenge that the Covid-19 pandemic has staged as a kind of dress rehearsal for the momentous crisis of climate change.
What will save us when the unsolved issues of the Modern Revolution come to a head? A different picture of the conflict between civilization and barbarism? The less active parts of our personality? A feeling of universal benevolence leading to personal obligation?
In a book that is also a palimpsest of the different ways in which religion can be studied today, the authors offer ideas and insights for those who do not give in to the signs of impending catastrophe and want to look forward to the future.
