Two major experts on religion in India will give a workshop on innovatives strategies for responding to the global challenge of sustainable development.
In their thoughts on Religion as faith and politics in the context of India today and Feminism or Equal rights? Confrontings religious patriarchies, Neera Chandoke and Nivedita Menon will uniquely contribute to our Center’s Mission on religion and innovation.
The seminar is open to the public and will be held in English.

Neera Chandhoke is Rd. Professor of the Department of Political Science, University of Delhi, and Director of the Developing Countries Research Centre, University of Delhi. She received her MA (1968) and her PhD (1984) from the University of Delhi. Her main teaching and research interests are political theory, secularism, pluralism, minority rights and the politics of developing societies with special focus on India. Her last book is:Rethinking Pluralism, Secularism and Tolerance: Anxieties of Coexistence (Sage, 2019). Professor Chandhoke regularly contributes articles to national and international journals and to Indian newspapers on contemporary themes.

Nivedita Menon is Professor in the Centre for Comparative Politics & Political Theory, School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, where she teaches Political Thought. Her books include:Recovering Subversion:Feminist Politics Beyond the Law (Orient Balckswan, 2004), an edited volume titled Sexualities (ZED, 2007), Power and Contestation:India since 1989 (ZED, 2007 co-authored with Aditya Nigam) and Seeing Like a Feminist (Penguin, 2012).
