FBK-ISR International Seminar 2023
This research will explore the role and position of MGW in contemporary Vietnamese culture, where it remains, and its interrelationships with the original culture where the symbols of Maitreya and God of Wealth were formed. Understanding the religious and social factors of each symbol from ancient times to the contemporary period helps us to comprehend the essentials of this embodiment.
The research will make a comparison between pseudomorph and quasi-religion within the symbol of MGW to understand the religious change or religious practice in contemporary Vietnamese society.
Furthermore, it will also find the birth, existence, and growth of the MGW belief in Vietnam as the most substantial evidence of the intertwining of Buddhism and contemporary Vietnamese folk beliefs from the perspective of syncretism.
