Food and nutrition in the face of global environmental challenges

2nd seminar of the cycle of meetings ‘Medicine and Environment’, organised in collaboration with the Centre for Religious Sciences of the Bruno Kessler Foundation of Trento and the Department of Humanities of the University of Trento for the year 2025.
In his talk, ‘Food and Nutrition Facing Global Environmental Challenges,’ Francesco Branca, former Director of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety at the World Health Organization in Geneva and current faculty member at the Institute for Global Health at the University of Geneva, will discuss global food and nutrition security and the impact that climate change has and may have on it. He will analyze the relationship between food systems, human and environmental health, the importance of a healthy diet, and possible measures to promote it.
Carlo Brentari, Professor of Bioethics at the Department of Humanities and Philosophy at the University of Trento, will engage in a dialogue with him, reflecting on these issues from the perspective of global bioethics. They will highlight the interconnectedness between humans, animals, and the environment, and consider the ethical dimensions that the notion of global health implies.
