LE FRONTIERE DELLA SPERANZA – THE SECOND VOLUME OF THE “TRIDENTI” SERIES IS NOW AVAILABLE
The second title in “Tridenti,” the new book series from FBK’s Center for Religious Studies, has been released.
“Le frontiere della speranza: fragilità e resilienza della democrazia” (The Frontiers of Hope: Democracy’s Fragility and Resilience) collects three essays by Charles Taylor, Nikolas Kompridis, and Paolo Costa, Senior Researcher at ISR, who is also the editor of the book.
The essays address the growing skepticism about the worth of democratic government from different but converging points of view. This disbelief is also motivated by the sense that contemporary democracies are betraying people’s expectations of having a political system that works for everyone and not just a few. To counter it, the authors discuss the link between democracy and hope for the future, democracy and faith in truth, and democracy and sacredness.
In a book that is also a call to rediscover the broadly ‘religious’ roots of democracy, Taylor, Kompridis, and Costa offer ideas and insights to those who refuse to give in to the signs of impending catastrophe and want to look to the future with confidence.
The research underlying this work was conducted within the Interregional Project Network IPN 175 “Resilient Beliefs: Religion and Beyond” (2022-2024), funded by the Euregio Science Fund.
