
Stefania Yapo

Stefania Yapo is a social scientist specialized in migration and citizenship studies. She completed her PhD in March 2020 and is still fellow of the Erc-HOMInG research project on the home-migration nexus at the department of Sociology in Trento.
She holds a BA in Political Sciences and a MSc in International Studies and Human Rights. She has a particular focus on the legal and political implications of migration-related issues at both the national(s) and European level, more specifically she is specialized on the lived implications of naturalization and acquisition of dual citizenship for third-country nationals in the EU.
She joined the Center for Religious Sciences of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK-ISR) in June 2021. Here she is part of action-research projects that foster digital competencies for future generations (DIG4Future) and fight multiple discriminations using an intersectional approach (INGRiD).
Before turning to the academic world, she worked as an apprentice for an NGO in Dublin, as a paralegal for a law firm in London and a trained assistant for a private Foundation in Rome. She also has several years of experience collaborating with the Statistical Office ISPAT of Trento.
Since 2017, she has taken part in public events to give speeches on “migration and citizenship” and more recently on “gender and politics” for high-school students. She is also lecturer for courses on citizenship studies and in 2020 conducted a research on women in positions of power in Trentino for the Commissione Provinciale Pari Opportunità.
