Solitude is mostly seen in Philo as a condition that favors the interior search typical of the sage, and he speaks of it not only theoretically, but also as a personal experience. However, isolation cannot be considered the instrument through which a person gives sudden acceleration to their own process of perfection, because in this case it would not work. One can withdraw only when ready, having achieved good self-control. This aspect too is addressed by Philo with references to his own lived experience.
