INSIDE - INvestigating Multireligious and Spiritual Spaces Inside Public and Secular Environments in Italy
INvestigating Multireligious and Spiritual Spaces Inside Public and Secular Environments in Italy” (INSIDE)
INSIDE brings together, under the coordination of FBK-ISR and the Department of Humanistic Studies at the University of Roma Tre, a team of scholars from various affiliations and disciplinary backgrounds who share an interest in researching shared religious spaces. In particular, they focus on those spaces dedicated to religious and/or spiritual needs that are being established in public, institutional, and organizational contexts that are not inherently religious. The potential creation of such spaces within universities, hospitals, prisons, airports, train stations, courthouses, and workplaces raises highly relevant questions for the study of the role of religion in contemporary societies. These questions primarily concern the spatial translation of widespread institutional and social representations and conceptions of religion and spirituality, as well as the search for forms of management and recognition of diversity in pluralistic collective contexts. The project is realised in collaboration with the research network SHARP-Lab (SHAred Religious Paces-Lab) and Gruppo Nazionale Stanza del Silenzio e dei Culti
