The Davide Zordan Lecture is annually held in Autumn. It was established to honor the memory of a researcher of the Center for Religious Studies of FBK, who died in 2015.

Literally, the Odyssey is a tale, a mythos – indeed, a tapestry of handed-down and imaginary stories. According to Theodor Adorno’s evocative interpretation, however, it is the birthplace of the so-called Enlightenment subject – that is, the cradle of that rationalizing and instrumental logos that characterizes the turbulent history of the West. Adorno and other 20th-century interpreters (Kafka, Brecht, Blanchot) obviously exaggerate in portraying Ulysses as the first – more or less arrogant or ridiculous – champion of modern rationality. Yet even today, it seems inevitable that we must trace back to the Odyssey itself not only the decisive encounter between mythos and logos, but also the original setting for every plausible definition of both.

The lecture will be in Italian.

Modalities of participation:
Attendance free.

The event will also be broadcasted on the FBK YouTube channel.
